WHY “CWCW” - CHOP WOOD, CARRY WATER?

Our name comes from the Zen Koan:

“ Before enlightenment chop wood, carry water; after enlightenment chop wood, carry water.”

This teaching reminds us that growth is found in the everyday - strength, resilience and presence are found not in escape, but in repetition, effort, and care.

CWCW Studio is built around this idea: Real change happens when we train with attention, return to the basics, and stay with the work.

Whether you’re lifting, breathing, or simply arriving - it’s all part of the practice.

THE STUDIO IS THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED TO FEEL CALM, FOCUSED, AND GROUNDING.

Low lighting, soft scents, sheepskin seating, large sliding doors looking out onto our wildflower planting - creating a sensory environment that invites presence.

We have complimentary, ethically sourced coffee from our friends at Tigermoth Roastery and filtered water available to enjoy in our cosy seating area - a space to pause before or after your session.

Outside, our training space opens out onto views of the South Downs bringing you closer to nature.

  • One-on-one personal training provides a fully customised fitness experience, focusing entirely on your unique goals, abilities, and needs. With individualised attention, you'll receive expert guidance and support to discover your strengths, enhance your abilities and move confidently to foster a healthy relationship with your body.

  • Small group personal training offers the personalised attention of one-on-one coaching in a motivating, supportive small group setting. You'll receive tailored workouts via our training app - designed to help you progress, while benefiting from the energy and accountability of a small community.
